China urgently needs to develop new plasticizers
recently, the General Administration of quality supervision, inspection and Quarantine of the people's Republic of China issued an announcement: in the future, the import and export of food preservative films containing DEHA and other substances that do not meet the mandatory national standards or vinyl chloride monomer content exceeding the standard will be prohibited. This is a domestic clean-up of plasticizer products after the European Union said in May and August 2005 that the plasticizers such as phthalate esters and benzene contained in the rubber solution of plastic toy snakes and suit bicycle repair tools exported by China exceeded the standard, and issued a consumption warning for these products within the European Union
in fact, as early as 2003, China promulgated the "Hygienic standard for the use of additives for food containers and packaging materials", which stipulates 20 categories of 65 kinds of processing additives that can be used. Diadipate (DEHA) is a plasticizer, but it has not been listed in the national standard, and is undoubtedly not allowed to be used. The plasticizers that are allowed to be used in limited quantities in national standards also have strict regulations. For example, the general standard of dioctyl diacid (DOA) is no more than 35%, but why do manufacturers often use plasticizers that exceed the standard
"the main reason is that the plasticizer we now widely use has not yet reached the new environmental protection requirements." Zhangjiake, general manager of Dongguan Chengrun plastic products Co., Ltd., said that at present, more than 80% of domestic plastic enterprises usually use DOP (dioctyl phthalate) and DINP (phthalate ester). The plastic industry calls them "low toxicity" plasticizers. Although they are not strictly new environmentally friendly materials, they are also internationally accepted products. Mr. Xiao, a salesperson of Shanghai Jiatong Chemical Co., Ltd., also said that their company's popular plasticizers are DOP and DINP, which are mainly sold to the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta. There should be no slippage, and the annual sales volume is 30000 ~ 50000 tons. It is understood that Chengrun still needs to improve the system and take multiple measures to play the role of market players such as venture capital. The company uses as much as 400 tons of plasticizer DOP or DINP every year, so that there are nearly 100 small and medium-sized enterprises with an annual output value of nearly 10 million in Dongguan alone. The more plasticizers are added, the more flexible plastic products will be, and the brighter the color of products will be. Under the pressure of market competition, Therefore, some enterprises do not use plasticizers according to the standard requirements
Zhang Jiake's statement was also confirmed by Yuan Huilin, Professor of Materials Department of Beijing University of chemical technology. Professor Yuan said that the so-called plasticizers did not meet the requirements of environmental protection, which is what we usually call "low toxicity" plasticizers. In fact, it means that the content of some metal elements in plasticizers in products exceeds the standard. At present, the PVC plasticizers used in China mainly include dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and tributyl citrate (TBC). DOP is a commonly used plasticizer, and whether it is harmful to health has not been finally confirmed. Enterprises should strictly follow the standards. As a non-toxic plasticizer, TBC has been recognized by the U.S. Food Administration (FDA) and many other countries, and can be widely used
plasticizers are also commonly referred to as plasticizers by some enterprises. They are a chemical component in the formula of ethylene products. Through different formulas, they are widely used in a large number of durable and easy-to-make plastic products such as toys, building materials, auto parts, electronic and medical components, such as plasma bags and complete sets of infusion sets. For example, some countries in Japan and Europe pay attention to advocating the use of environmentally friendly plasticizers that can degrade and weathering in products, such as TBC (tributyl citrate) and totm (titanate series) mentioned by Professor Yuan to ensure the control accuracy of environmental parameters, but the prices of these plasticizers are too high for Chinese enterprises to digest
Chen Yang, deputy director of Guangdong Import and export toy inspection center, believes that at present, the development of environmental friendly plasticizers in the world obviously lags behind the needs of production and life. With the progress of science and technology, some traditional materials may be eliminated, and the research and development of new environmental friendly plasticizers with the advantages of harmlessness, low price, energy saving and good auxiliary effects as alternative materials is an urgent problem to be solved in the current plastic products industry. According to Professor Yuan Huilin, at present, China has developed an environmental friendly plasticizer TBC (tributyl citrate), which has been applied in pharmaceutical products. In the future, it can be gradually promoted in other production industries
